It is not fungus, it is just trapped moisture from your daily routine like the gym or a long shower. My advice? Stick to a strict 4-5 week refill schedule. It keeps your natural nail bed healthy and stops any bacteria from settling in the first place. ### Understanding Your Nails When you get a gel manicure or extensions, you are committing to a bit of maintenance. I always tell my clients that the 'clean girl' aesthetic isn't just about the color, it is about the health of the nail underneath. ### Why Dry Prep Matters You might notice I use an E-file (electric drill) for what I call a 'Dry Manicure.' I avoid soaking your nails in water before applying gel. Why? Because nails are porous like a sponge. If they soak up water, they expand, and when they dry, they contract. This causes your gel polish to lift or chip within days.
