We always suggest approaching from the side rather than hovering over your dog. By pairing this movement with a treat, you turn a potential moment of stress into a rewarding, collaborative win for both of you. ### Building Trust Through Body Language Handling isn't just about moving a dog from point A to point B. It is about consent. Whether you are lifting a large Golden Retriever or a small Shih Tzu, your body language dictates how they feel. When you lift a dog, proper support of the chest and hind legs is non-negotiable for their comfort and your safety. If they feel unstable, they will squirm. If they feel supported, they will settle. ### The 'Why' Behind the Technique We focus on the 'why' because when you understand the mechanics of canine behaviour, you stop guessing and start connecting. * **Collar Training:** It should never be a wrestling match. Use high-value treats to create a positive association before the collar even touches their neck. * **Safe Lifting:** Avoid 'scooping' or lifting them by the armpits. Always keep their weight distributed across your body, which helps them feel grounded. * **Community Advocacy:** We do not just look after the dogs at our Bellandur facility. We believe in showing up for the wider community, including the Indie dogs on our streets. Events like PawFest 2025 are where we share this knowledge, advocate for better welfare, and meet other like-minded pet parents who want to do better for their furry friends. ### A Community, Not Just a Kennel We started DogNation because we saw too many pet parents feeling isolated or confused. Our community approach is about bringing people together to share the load. You are not just learning how to handle your dog; you are joining a network of people in Bangalore who are actively working to make life better for every wagging tail in the city. ## About DogNation We are a team of pet parents and trainers in Bellandur who believe a happy dog starts with an educated owner. We don't just handle dogs; we help you understand the 'why' behind their behaviour so you can build a bond that actually lasts.
