These are not just gatherings; they are spaces to hold, feel, and act through the power of verse. ## Photos and videos - ![The poster for 'Poems for Palestine', a poetry salon and fundraiser. In this event, we gathered to read the works of Palestinian poets, filling the room with their voices of rage and grief, with all proceeds supporting an artist teaching children in Gaza.](https://assets.mytribe.in/insecure/raw:1/plain/s3://mytribe-assets-production/bd63767a-6fc7-46b8-851d-4fcf7b0cf941) ## About Poetry for a Cause When I host these sessions, I do not just open a door for poetry; I open it for action. We pick a theme, like the recent Poems for Palestine, and gather to read, hold space for rage or grief, and collectively contribute to a concrete goal. Every rupee raised goes directly to the cause, whether it is supporting artists in displacement or local community efforts. Poetry can be a quiet act of resistance. In these sessions, we move past the stage and into the work of showing up. My process is simple. I choose a reading list focused on a specific social or political issue, and we gather in small, intimate spaces like bookstores or studios to let the words act as a bridge. We do not perform for an audience; we read for each other. Sometimes the room is quiet with the weight of what we are reading, other times it is loud with shared resolve. How these sessions work: - We choose a cause: Whether local or global, we focus on where our support can be felt. - The selection: I pick poems, from Palestinian voices to local resistance writers, that speak to our current moment. - The collection: All contributions are transparently directed to the beneficiary, like the recent funds raised for Haneen Koraz’s work with children in Gaza. These are not just readings. They are anchors. They keep us tethered to the world when the news feels too distant to handle. Come to share your voice, or just to listen. ## About Rachit Sharma i am rachit, and i believe poetry is the queerest, most resilient thing that happens to a culture. my work is about pulling words off the stage and into the streets, into our bones, and into our communal fight for a better world.
