Our facility offers freeze-drying, dehydration, and vacuum packing for your own meals.](https://assets.mytribe.in/insecure/raw:1/plain/s3://mytribe-assets-production/da5c4e72-9cfa-4d14-bc0b-728a46062d0c) ## About Bring Your Own Food: Our Custom Freeze-Drying Service When I freeze-dry your meal, I remove 95% to 97% of the water content while keeping the original flavor and nutrition intact. You do not need a microwave or stove; just pour boiling water into the packet, wait three minutes, and your meal is ready. It stays fresh for 6 to 9 months at room temperature, and because I do not use preservatives or palm oil, it is safe for everyone from kids to seniors. ### How It Works Bring your wet food to my facility in Malad, Mumbai. I handle the entire sublimation process, which turns your cooked meals into lightweight, travel-ready packs. This method ensures that even if you are carrying 3kg of dal, it will weigh less than 500g once processed, saving you massive amounts of suitcase space. ### Why This Matters For students heading to the US, UK, or Canada, finding pure vegetarian or Jain food that tastes like home is difficult. My service lets you pack exactly what you love—whether it is homemade Undhiyu, pav bhaji, or a specific gravy—so you have comfort food ready for those late-night study sessions or busy exam days. ### What We Can Process * **Full Meals:** We freeze-dry almost any gravy-based dish, rice items, and cooked veggies. * **Bread & Snacks:** For rotis, theplas, and dry items, I offer vacuum packing using industrial chamber sealing to keep them fresh for 15 to 20 days. * **Safety First:** I use 3-layer metallized food-grade pouches and include oxygen absorbers in every pack. Our seals are tested to withstand flight cabin pressure changes, so you do not have to worry about leaks in your luggage. ### A Note on Process We are a small team, not a massive factory. When you bring your food, I treat it with the same care as I would for my own family. If you are sending food to a loved one overseas, I can help you with the logistics of packing them flat so they are easy to carry. ## About Desi Khana I started Desi Khana because I was tired of living on noodles while traveling. Now, I help others carry a taste of home in their suitcases, whether it is for a semester in the US or a family vacation. I personally handle the freeze-drying process to make sure your food is safe and keeps its home-cooked flavor.
