When we approach a new project, Muzamil handles the structural bones and site logic, while Komal focuses on the interior rhythm and material details. We spend weeks debating the layout to ensure your space feels like a natural extension of who you are, rather than a generic design template. Our journey began in 2012, born from a desire to move away from visual noise and towards a more intentional way of designing. When Komal joined in 2014, the dialogue within our practice shifted. Architecture is a complex field, but for us, the real work happens in the friction between our two perspectives. We have learned that the best spaces are not just built; they are negotiated. We often get asked how we manage to maintain our aesthetic when clients bring conflicting ideas to the table. The answer is simple. We treat every project as a conversation. If you want a space that prioritizes function without sacrificing character, we are the ones to listen. We avoid the urge to fill every corner with unnecessary elements. Instead, we focus on the interplay of light, natural materials like stone and brass, and the physical flow of the area. Whether it is a large farm retreat in the outskirts of Bengaluru or a compact terrace in the heart of the city, our philosophy remains constant. We take the time to understand your lifestyle—your morning coffee routine, how you entertain, or where you hide away to read—and build the design around that. We were honored to be recognized as a 'Power Couple' in the 2025 Architect’s Diary, but for us, that recognition only matters because it confirms that our clients feel truly heard. We are not just designing structures. We are building sanctuaries where you can finally pause. ## About Design Boulevard We are Komal and Muzamil, and we started Design Boulevard because we saw a need for homes that actually breathe. We balance each other out in every project—Muzamil with the structural rigour and Komal with the interior warmth—to create spaces that feel lived-in and honest.
