Rather than just recording the rituals, I use specific lighting and angles to make the yellow florals and vibrant décor pop, while ensuring I do not miss the unscripted interactions, such as a family member sharing a joke with the groom or the quiet glances between the couple amidst the crowd. Haldi and Mehendi functions are often where the formal structure of a wedding breaks down, and that is where I find the real energy. Whether you are hosting a traditional backyard Haldi or a lavish mehendi setup at a resort in Jaipur, my team and I focus on the storytelling element of these pre-wedding rituals. ### My Approach to Pre-Wedding Rituals We do not just stand back and watch. I use a mix of wide-angle shots to capture the full vibrant setup, the marigolds, the drapes, and the crowd. I simultaneously use tight 85mm portraits to highlight emotional connections. My teams are prepared for the mess, the unpredictable sunlight, and the high-speed action of the varmala or the turmeric application.
