Whether I am supporting a sarod recital or exploring a complex rhythmic pattern in a solo set, the goal is always to create a seamless dialogue where the tabla responds to the mood of the raga and the pulse of the performer. ### Understanding My Performance Style Every concert is a tribute to my lineage. My playing is rooted in the Farukhabad Gharana, a tradition that emphasizes clarity of sound and intricate rhythmic patterns. When I perform, I am not just playing beats; I am sharing the compositions passed down by my Guruji, Pandit Subhankar Banerjee ji. ### Solo vs. Collaborative Work * **Solo Recitals:** These sessions are my playground for rhythmic exploration. I often weave together complex cycles, such as playing Teentaal within Jhaptaal, or presenting rare 'Anaghat' compositions that start before the main beat. * **Accompaniment:** A live concert is a team effort. Whether collaborating with a vocalist, a sitar or sarod player, or a Kathak dancer, my role is to enhance the melody. I focus on creating a supportive rhythm that elevates the lead performer's expression without overpowering it. ### What to Expect If you are planning an event or a recording project, I bring the same dedication to every setting. I believe in meticulous preparation, from tuning the tabla perfectly to understanding the nuances of the raga or the specific requirements of the dancer I am accompanying.
