Whether I am performing Kata in a tournament or judging matches as an official referee, this involvement keeps my training current. For me, it is the only way to know if my foundations are solid. When I step onto the mat, it is to see if the Budokon principles I teach in my Bengaluru classes hold up under real pressure. This mindset of 'never lose, either I win or I learn' is the heartbeat of our dojo. ### Why Refereeing Matters to Your Training Being an active official referee and judge gives me a unique vantage point. I watch the mistakes others make, the technical errors that cost points, and the precise form that wins matches. This is not abstract theory; it is what I pass on to my students. You are learning the exact standards of the Karate Budokan International (KBI) network. ### Practical Application We do not train for hypothetical scenarios. We train for timing, distance, and control—the same metrics used in national championships.
