## About Gelly Roll Mandalas on Black Paper

Unlike traditional ink on white paper, using Gelly Roll pens on black surfaces creates an instant, vibrant contrast that makes every line look like it is glowing. This technique is often the most relaxing part of my workshops because the dark paper handles the depth for you, allowing you to focus entirely on the meditative repetition of your patterns. It is a fantastic entry point if you are looking to create art that feels luminous and calm.

When the world feels noisy, switching to black paper and bright, opaque gel inks helps me find my center. The opaque ink sits beautifully on dark surfaces, allowing you to build layers that look almost celestial. In my guided sessions, we focus on the rhythm of the pen, which is the true heart of mandala art therapy. 

### Why this technique works
* **Instant Contrast:** The opaque quality of the pens means you get a pop of color with every stroke, removing the need for complex shading techniques.
* **Mindful Repetition:** Drawing on black paper requires focus, which helps clear the mind and allows you to enter a flow state quickly.
* **Beginner Friendly:** You do not need to be an expert artist to start. I guide you through grid construction and basic patterns that build up into a complex, beautiful piece of art.

We typically work on 300 GSM paper to ensure the ink sits well without bleeding. Whether you are using the neon-like Moonlight series or metallic pens, the goal is always the same: finding a moment of peace through creativity.
