We traveled to Bylakupe as a Sangha to witness Geshe Tenzin Legtsok complete his rigorous years of philosophical study at Sera Jey. Seeing the discipline of the monastic community firsthand and offering our congratulations gave us all a renewed sense of what the Dharma truly means in practice. The Geshe degree is the highest academic qualification in the Gelug tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. It is not awarded lightly; it requires decades of intense study, debate, and practice. For our community at CKSL, attending this graduation was a profound way to connect with the living lineage of our teachers. ### The Significance of the Ceremony When we arrived at Sera Jey Monastery, we were struck by the sheer scale of the event. Hundreds of monks seated in the prayer hall, the resonance of the chanting, and the sight of centuries-old traditions being upheld in the modern day left a lasting impression. It served as a powerful reminder of the dedication required to preserve these teachings. Participating in the ceremony, offering khatas (traditional scarves), and sharing in the joy of the teachers allowed our students to see the human side of monastic life. It bridged the gap between our regular study sessions in Domlur and the source of our wisdom in Bylakupe. ### Integrating the Experience at CKSL While this event took place in Bylakupe, the spirit of it is at the core of everything we do. We bring the same dedication to our centre in Domlur, where we study these very teachings daily.
