## About Professional Training & Certification

### What Drives Us

I see professional training as a way to build a caring network for kids and teens. For me, it’s not just about sharing skills, but about making sure there are more people around who actually get what children need - and know how to help. Anyone – pro, parent, student, or just someone who’s curious – is welcome. If you care about child mental health, you’ll find a spot here.

### Our Approach to Learning

I keep things practical, evidence-based, and tuned to our culture. Courses mix hands-on stuff with the best of what’s out there globally. You learn from people who actually work in the field, including our in-house experts and some international partners. I want you to come away with real skills, not just theory.

### Programs At A Glance

- Certificate in Child & Youth Mental Health: Covers neurodivergence (ADHD, Autism), trauma, anxiety, and more.
- Narrative Therapy diploma program: Learn the “person is not the problem” way, with a strong focus on respect.
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy training: Strength-based, forward-looking therapy you can use anywhere.
- Creative therapy workshops: Stuff like Neuro-Dramatic-Play, using drama and stories to help kids express themselves.
- Regular workshops on trauma, reflective practice, creative methods, and more.

### How Learning Happens

- Mostly online or hybrid, so you can join from anywhere.
- Self-paced study with videos and readings.
- Live online sessions for Q&A and sharing experiences.

### Beyond the Certificate

When you finish, you’re not just handed a piece of paper. You join a community – people who care, share stories, and keep growing together. My hope is you leave ready to make spaces safer, more accepting, and yes, even joyful for every child.

### My story

We’re Children First, and honestly, it’s always been about the kids for us. Been at it 15+ years, working with all sorts of families, teachers, and schools. We don’t just sit and talk - sometimes it’s beads, sometimes art, sometimes puppets. It’s not about fixing, it’s about belonging. We’ve teamed up with places like Salaam Baalak Trust, and we run circles for new parents too. We think happy teachers and supported parents make magic for kids.

### My work

- **Mental Health Services for Young People**: We support kids and youth (0-25) with therapy, occupational therapy, play-based programs, and group sessions.
- **Play-Based, Neurodiversity-Affirming Therapy**: No cookie-cutter stuff. We use play, art, movement, and stories to help kids feel they belong.
- **Early Intervention and Nesting Circle**: Gentle help for infants and toddlers - sensory needs, social skills, bonding, all through play-based therapy.
- **Community & Sensory-Friendly Programs**: Summer camps, Bridges to School, movie screenings - joyful, inclusive spaces for all kids to connect.
- **Training for Adults**: Certificate courses, narrative therapy diplomas, workshops for parents, teachers, and counsellors.
