I seal every piece with a water-resistant varnish, so they hold up well even if you mist your plants frequently or keep them on a humid balcony. I started making these stakes because I wanted my own plants to have more character, and I found that tiny details—like a bee resting on a leaf or a birdhouse tucked into the foliage—make all the difference. Every piece here is made without molds, meaning I sculpt the shape, add the texture, and paint the details by hand. ### Why Polymer Clay? I chose polymer clay because it is lightweight and surprisingly durable once it has been oven-baked. It won't weigh down your stems or tip over your pots, but it is strong enough to survive regular watering. ### Making Them Yours While I have a few standard designs like honey bees, grasshopper-chasing ants, and birdhouses, these are just starting points. If you have a favorite childhood story or a specific garden scene in mind, send me a message. Whether it is a specific animal, a color theme, or a memory you want captured in clay, I would love to help you bring it to life. These stakes work just as well in a small desk succulent pot as they do in a larger balcony garden. ### Care Tips Since these are varnished, they are water-resistant, but I recommend avoiding harsh chemicals when cleaning your plants nearby. Simply wipe them down with a soft, damp cloth if they get dusty. They are meant to be garden friends that stay, so keep them inserted deep enough in the soil for a stable fit. ## About Chiguruminigardens I'm the person behind the desk covered in clay scraps, turning tiny ideas into garden friends.
