It is the moment when students demonstrate the training and discipline they have built throughout the year. It is a traditional rite of passage where you receive your corda (belt), play with visiting instructors, and experience the full energy of our community in one circle. This is where the magic happens. A Batizado is a cornerstone of Capoeira culture, a ceremony where students are officially welcomed into the community and progress in rank. Think of it as our graduation day, but with a lot more music and movement. We host this event annually, bringing in guest Mestres and senior instructors from across India and Brazil, which gives you a rare chance to train with some of the best practitioners in the world. Over the three-day festival, you will dive into intensive workshops. We cover everything from complex acrobatics and partner flows to percussion rhythm sessions for the Berimbau, Atabaque, and Pandeiro. It is an immersive experience. You do not need to be an expert to attend. Whether you are coming to receive your first belt or simply to soak in the energy, the Batizado is open to everyone. It is about the shared rhythm, the challenge of the game, and the connection we build through Afro-Brazilian art. ## About Capoeira Academy We are the team behind Capoeira Academy. We have been living and breathing this art for years, and our Batizado is our favorite way to show what our tribe is all about. It is loud, it is rhythmic, and it is where strangers truly turn into family.
