We move around your space to find the softest natural window light, waiting for the moments when you are simply holding your baby, soothing them, or watching a sibling peek into the crib. These sessions are about the interaction, not a checklist of shots. ### Why choose lifestyle newborn photography? While studio portraits offer a polished and classic aesthetic, lifestyle sessions are about capturing your family exactly as you are right now. We skip the elaborate sets, choosing instead to use your nursery or living room as the backdrop. This allows your newborn to remain comfortable in their own environment, and it lets you and your partner relax, removing the stress of traveling with a days-old infant. ### Our process We generally suggest booking this session when the baby is 5 to 15 days old, as this is when they are sleepiest and naturally curl up the most. We work slowly. If the baby needs a feed, a diaper change, or just a moment of comfort, we pause. The goal is to capture the authentic, blink-and-you-miss-it moments: the way you stroke the baby's hair, or the look on a sibling's face when they see the new member of the family. ### Preparing for your home session - **Lighting:** We prioritize rooms with the best natural light. We might ask to declutter a small corner of your room to ensure the focus remains on you. - **Wardrobe:** Keep it simple. We recommend neutral tones, creams, or soft pastels for the whole family. Solid, coordinated clothing ensures the attention stays on your faces and the baby, rather than the outfits. - **Managing expectations:** If a toddler is having a grumpy day or the baby won't settle, it is completely normal.
