You will learn to map out facial features using basic shapes, and if your shading feels a bit heavy or a line goes astray, we use it as a teaching moment to adjust rather than rubbing it out. It is all about building the confidence to capture expressions, not striving for photographic perfection. ### How We Approach Portraits Drawing a person can feel intimidating, but our online sessions are designed to break that anxiety. We focus heavily on the 'Front Face' technique, which simplifies the process by looking at the face as a series of proportions and shapes. ### What You Will Learn Our course is structured to take you from a blank page to a finished portrait. * **Proportion & Mapping:** Understanding where the eyes, nose, and mouth sit relative to each other. * **Shading & Texture:** Using pencils, charcoal, or watercolors to add depth and emotion to your subject. * **Art History Inspiration:** We often look at masters like Frida Kahlo or Jamini Roy to see how they stylized faces to tell a story. You aren't just copying a reference; you are learning to interpret the character in front of you. ### Why It Works Online We know it is hard to see details on a screen, which is why our teachers use dedicated camera setups to focus directly on their hands. You can see every stroke as it happens. If you struggle with a specific angle, we provide live, real-time feedback during the session. We keep our batches small, so every student gets a turn to show their work and ask questions. If you have to miss a class, do not worry—we provide access to recordings so you can catch up at your own pace. ## About Bloom and Grow We are Bloom and Grow, a team of artists and teachers who believe art should be messy, fun, and accessible. We do not care about perfection—we care about you picking up a brush, making a few 'happy accidents,' and genuinely enjoying the process of creating something new.
