Our approach brings together traditional techniques like mud construction and local artistry to build spaces that are naturally cool, deeply rooted, and crafted by the community. ## Photos and videos - ![A detail from a vernacular homestay in Madhya Pradesh. We work with local craftsmen to create structures that breathe. When we use mud for a mural or a wall, it is not just decoration. That mud plaster acts as a natural thermal regulator, keeping your interior temperatures stable without heavy AC usage. It is a dialogue between traditional wisdom and your need for a modern, comfortable home. Why does vernacular architecture matter in a modern city? It is about reclaiming a connection to materials that have worked for centuries. Whether we are building a private residence in Bengaluru or a homestay in the forests of Panna, our starting point is always the site itself. We prioritize earth-based construction methods like Compressed Stabilised Earth Blocks (CSEB) and adobe. These are not retro-fitted trends. They are proven solutions for thermal comfort. By choosing oxide flooring, lime plasters, or exposed brick, we remove the need for synthetic coatings that trap heat and moisture. Our process is inherently collaborative. In our rural projects, local elders provide the design knowledge, while our team bridges the gap to ensure structural integrity. For your space, this means using local stone like Cuddapah or terracotta, which reduces your carbon footprint and keeps the home grounded. We also view every surface as a canvas. When we integrate mud relief work or traditional murals into your home, we are celebrating a lineage of craftsmanship. It transforms a standard partition into a narrative element. This is not about recreating a museum-like experience. It is about creating a living, breathing space that ages gracefully, supports local artisans, and aligns your daily life with the environment. ## About Biome Environmental Solutions We are a collective of architects and researchers who believe the best designs are not invented, they are discovered in the land and community.
