It is found in the honest texture of a stone wall, the precision of a floating staircase, and the quiet beauty of natural materials. ## Photos and videos - ![This exterior wall features a custom-designed, board-formed concrete texture with a bamboo motif. Whether it is board-formed concrete with a bamboo motif or the deliberate grain of live-edge timber, our work relies on these tactile decisions to ground a space. For us, materiality is the difference between a house that feels built and one that feels finished. Our philosophy centers on the idea that a building should reflect the nature of its components. When we select Italian marble, natural stone, or wrought iron, we do so to ensure the space ages with grace rather than just looking pristine on day one. This focus on material integrity is what defines our modern minimalist style. ### Why Material Selection Matters In residential architecture, the tactile experience is just as significant as the visual one. A room should feel different underfoot, and a wall should capture light in ways that change throughout the day. By using textures like bamboo-imprinted concrete, we add depth to otherwise flat surfaces, creating a dialogue between the structure and the light. ### Our Technical Approach - **Precision Engineering:** Elements like floating staircases require rigorous structural planning to ensure they appear weightless while maintaining complete safety. - **Natural Integration:** We often pair heavy materials like stone with expansive glass to maintain a sense of lightness in the living areas. - **Site-Specific Finishes:** We study the local topography and climate of Bengaluru to determine which materials will withstand the elements while retaining their intended finish. Whether we are designing a feature wall or a compound boundary, our goal is to ensure that the craftsmanship remains evident. We prefer honesty in construction where the joints, textures, and structural connections are part of the design narrative rather than something to be hidden behind layers of decorative paint. ## About Billimoria & Associates I believe design determines our future.
