You need to look at your room's compass direction first. A North-facing room gets different natural light than a South-facing one, and if you ignore this, your paint will look dull by midday. I combine this light analysis with Vastu principles to suggest shades that stay balanced and peaceful, whether it is 8 AM or 5 PM. Choosing paint is rarely just about aesthetics. In my consultations, I look at the interaction between your home's orientation and the energy flow. ### Why Direction Matters Every wall in your home is influenced by the path of the sun. * **North-facing rooms:** These spaces receive cool, indirect light throughout the day. To keep them from feeling clinical or cold, I recommend warmer, inviting tones like off-whites, light beiges, or pale yellows. * **East-facing rooms:** You get bright, amber light in the morning which shifts to a cooler tone later. I use earthy, neutral shades here to adapt to this transition. * **West-facing rooms:** These receive intense, warm afternoon light. I typically suggest cool, calming colors like pale gray or blue-gray to offset that afternoon heat and create a serene environment. * **South-facing rooms:** These are naturally blessed with bright, warm light all day. Soft, cool tones like lavender-gray or duck egg help maintain an airy, refreshing atmosphere. ### The Vastu Connection Vastu isn't about rigid rules or breaking walls. It is about harmony. When we select a color palette, we are also looking at the elemental balance of the room. A kitchen in the Southeast requires a different energy than a Master Bedroom in the Southwest. My goal is to ensure the colors on your walls support your well-being. If you are renovating, we can achieve these shifts through smart paint choices and decor adjustments rather than major structural changes. Let’s make sure your home feels right for you. ## About Bespoke D.Designers by Divya Gupta Hi, I'm Divya.
