Take an old, used file and rub it against the edges of the new one to smooth them out. It is a tiny step, but it makes a huge difference. Your clients will not leave with accidental cuts, and they will notice the extra care you put into their comfort. I have seen too many students struggle with basic problems because they skipped the technical details. Whether it is why your extensions are lifting, the truth about UV lamp safety, or knowing the difference between a 100 and 180 grit file, the secret is always in the prep work. My approach is not just about making things look good. It is about building a foundation that lasts. ### Know Your Tools Understanding the difference between grit levels is not just theory. If you use the wrong file, you are damaging the natural nail plate. A 100 grit file is sharp and hard, while 180 is softer. Using the wrong one can lead to thin, weak nails that break easily. ### Client Safety & Comfort People often worry about UV lamps, but when you understand the wavelength spectrum (UVA versus UVB), you can explain safety to your clients with confidence. Issues like 'heat spikes' or 'lifting' are usually not about bad products. They are about application technique. Use low-heat modes on your lamps, or guide your client to slowly slide their hand into the lamp to manage exothermic reactions. ### Why Practice Matters I share these tips because when I started, no one was there to guide me through these struggles. I want to make sure you do not have to suffer the same way.
