You do not paint with it like a brush; you apply thick layers of acrylic paint, almost like sculpting on canvas. The key is knowing when to stop, so you do not muddy your colors. In our sessions, we focus on that exact weight of the stroke because once the paint is on the canvas, moving it around usually loses that clean, sharp look you see in professional work. ### Understanding the Palette Knife Technique Knife painting, or impasto technique, is about adding dimension to your canvas. Instead of the flat blending we often associate with traditional painting, the palette knife allows for raised texture and sharp, confident edges. At ArtVilla Academy, we teach you how to handle the knife not just as a tool, but as an extension of your creative intention. ### What You Will Learn Our workshops are designed to get you comfortable with the medium quickly. We cover: * **Load and Release:** How much paint to take on the knife and how to release it to create peaks and valleys of color. * **Mixing on Canvas:** One of the joys of this technique is mixing colors directly on the canvas, which creates beautiful, organic marbling effects that brushes simply cannot replicate. * **Compositional Thinking:** We teach you to look at a subject—whether it is a cityscape, a portrait, or an animal—and break it down into planes and blocks rather than fine lines. ### Why Choose Our Studio Whether you visit our Borivali or Kandivali studio, you are not just attending a class; you are joining a creative family. We keep our groups small to ensure that each student gets personalized feedback. If your stroke is too heavy or your paint consistency is off, we help you adjust in real-time. We provide all necessary materials, including professional-grade acrylics and varied knife sizes, so you only need to bring your enthusiasm. Our goal is for you to walk out with a finished piece that feels like your own creation, not a copy of someone else's work. If you have been hesitant about trying fine arts, this is the perfect entry point. It is low-pressure, tactile, and highly satisfying. ## About ArtVilla Academy We are ArtVilla Academy, a collective where mistakes are just steps in the learning process.
