It is not just about the pencils, it is about the time I invest. Whether it is a single portrait taking 8 hours or a complex 6-person family composite requiring 75+ hours of intense shading, my process is slow on purpose. I use Staedtler graphite and Camlin charcoal to build depth, layer by layer, until the expression on paper feels as alive as the memory itself. Creating a portrait is more than just drawing on paper. It is an act of preserving a moment that might otherwise fade. When I work on a memorial piece or a family composite, I am not just copying a photo, I am rebuilding a memory from the ground up. ### The Craft Behind the Art * **Material Matters:** I rely on professional-grade 300gsm Ivory or 270gsm Strathmore paper. This texture is essential for the layering process required for hyper-realistic shading. * **The Technique:** My signature style blends Staedtler graphite for smooth skin tones with deep, rich Camlin charcoal for contrast. Using Mono Zero erasers, I highlight small details like eye reflections and hair strands that give the subject a lifelike quality. * **Complex Composites:** Often, clients come to me without one single perfect photo of their whole family. I specialize in merging faces from multiple images into one harmonious composition. This takes patience, sometimes 40 to 75+ hours, but the result is a family heirloom that lasts for generations. ### Where I Work My studio in Dasanapura, Bengaluru, is my 'adda' where I spend these long hours. While I am based in Bengaluru, I ship my artwork safely across India, using reinforced hard-shell packaging to ensure your portrait arrives without a single bent corner. Whether you want to surprise a loved one with a wedding gift or honour a pet, I am here to help you turn your story into art. ## About Art by Naveen I am Naveen, a 'Kanasugara' or dreamer at heart.
