## About Mastering Still Life: Texture, Light & Shadow

I do not believe in just copying a reference photo line for line. In my sessions, we focus on the 5 Pillar Method of observation, which means we spend the first part of our time just understanding the light logic on your specific object. Whether it is the metallic reflection on a kettle or the dimples on an orange, you will learn to analyze the surface before you even pick up your charcoal or pencil. It is all about building a connection with what is in front of you.

Still life is often misunderstood as just drawing fruit or pots. To me, it is the purest form of practice because the objects do not move, allowing you to get lost in the details of light, shadow, and texture. When you learn to draw a piece of fabric or the glint on a copper glass, you are actually learning how to see the world differently.

In my Mumbai studio in Kandivli or via live online sessions, we break the process down. We start with structure, breaking down complex forms into basic 3D shapes. From there, we move into value scales and texture rendering. I guide you through capturing the fibrous feel of a corn husk or the high-contrast reflections on a stainless steel kettle. It is not about reaching perfection in one day; it is about persistence.

Many students worry about their lack of experience. I have taught complete beginners who were convinced they could not even draw a straight line. If you struggle with proportions or finding those dark tones, I will provide line-by-line feedback during our sessions. You will learn to work with professional-grade stationery like Fabriano paper and Staedtler pencils because the right tools make a noticeable difference in your results.

Whether you join my 4-day intensive realism bootcamp or our Sunday studio sessions, you get more than just a technique. You get a space to grow, ask questions, and refine your craft at your own pace. There is a quiet magic in watching a flat sketch on a blank page slowly turn into something that feels three-dimensional and real. Let us find that magic together.
