By studying how a lighting fixture interacts with shadow or how a piece of handcrafted furniture balances wood and stone, we gain insights that eventually inform the walls, ceilings, and open courtyards of our residential projects. Architecture is rarely just about the structure itself. It is a constant engagement with the world of art and craft, where every object acts as a study in form and texture. This collection represents the research phase of our practice, where we look at how natural fibers, metal profiles, and raw stone communicate with one another. Our approach is grounded in the belief that spaces should facilitate slow living, where the environment is as important as the house itself. For example, traditional patterns like those found in Kutch embroidery have previously informed the roof diagrams of our projects, helping us harmonize local heritage with modern living. We seek out designers and makers who explore the artistic potential of everyday objects, as their mastery of light and material honesty helps us refine our own understanding of space. When we introduce these elements into an interior, we are looking for a sense of quietude. Whether it is a sculptural lamp that changes the atmosphere of a room from morning to night or a piece of furniture that uses joinery to tell a story, these additions transform a simple dwelling into a sanctuary. By focusing on how items age, feel, and occupy a room, we create homes that feel connected to the people who inhabit them. This process of discovery is essential to our work, ensuring that every project is rooted in authentic techniques and meaningful design decisions. ## About Architecture Brio We are a team of architects and designers split between Mumbai and Rotterdam.
