We are working with real textures, such as rusted metal, grit, and available light, which means we need to move fast and be adaptable to the environment. I usually guide you through the initial poses, but the best shots happen when we stop trying to control every shadow and just let the environment do the work. For these gritty portraits, I rely on the contrast between your look and the stark, industrial backdrop. Whether it is the texture of weathered pipes or the geometric lines of a construction site, we are not just taking photos, we are building a narrative. ### Locating the Right Spot I have scouted various pockets across Mumbai where the architecture has character. Think old mill compounds, warehouse districts, and unfinished concrete zones. These are not pristine locations, so wear comfortable shoes, and be prepared to get a little dust on your clothes. The payoff is a raw, cinematic look you just cannot get in a studio. ### My Approach to Lighting I mostly stick to natural light for these shoots, using the way shadows fall across these structures to add depth. If we are shooting during the late afternoon, we get that beautiful, harsh side-light that defines the textures of the metal and brick. If we need extra punch, I will use flash, but it stays minimal to keep the mood authentic. ### Practical Tips for Your Shoot * **Styling:** Since the background is visually heavy, I always suggest minimal styling. Leather, denim, or plain tees work best to keep the focus on you. * **Flexibility:** We might have to adjust our plan if a spot is crowded or accessibility changes. This is the nature of shooting in public industrial spaces. * **Editing:** My edit style here leans into the grit.
