I spend the initial moments of any session tuning into the lead artist's phrasing—whether it is a sarangi, sitar, or vocalist—so that when we reach the 'sam' together, the rhythm feels like it was always meant to be there. ### The Art of the Musical Conversation When I perform as an accompanist, my goal is to elevate the soloist. It is a delicate balance of knowing when to lead, when to support, and when to create space for the melody to shine. My training in the Ajrara and Kirana Gharanas has taught me that the tabla is not just a timekeeper; it is an emotional voice. ### What Jugalbandi Brings to Your Event Jugalbandi is a special kind of chemistry. It is a spontaneous, rhythmic exchange that keeps an audience engaged because they are witnessing a live creative process. * **Perfect Balance:** Whether we are performing a slow Thumri or an energetic Raag-based composition, the interplay is designed to match the mood of your event. * **Versatile Instrumentation:** I am comfortable performing with a wide range of instruments, including sarangi, sitar, flute, santoor, and vocalists. * **Baithak Style:** For intimate house concerts, I recommend a traditional floor-seating (Baithak) setup. It allows the audience to hear the nuance of the tabla strokes and the natural resonance of the melodic instruments without heavy amplification. ### Planning Your Performance To ensure the best sound, especially for Jugalbandi, I prefer working with instruments that are tuned correctly to the venue's acoustics. If you are planning an event at a Delhi NCR venue, we can discuss the best microphone placement for 3-4 instrument-specific mics to capture that authentic classical sound.
