Instead of using one shade to cover pigmentation, I teach my students to mix ratios—like using 3/4 dark and 1/4 light concealer—to neutralise dark circles without looking heavy. It is about the science of correction, not just covering up. ### Why Your Base Looks Cakey Most beginners get stuck because they try to fix skin issues with foundation alone. Foundation is for evening out skin tone, not for hiding deep pigmentation or dark circles. If you apply a thick layer of foundation on dark spots, it will turn grey by the end of the day. ### The Logic of Color Correction In my classes at the Mulund West studio, we don't guess shades. We use the color wheel. - **Pigmentation:** We use warm-toned concealers to cancel out the blue/grey tones in dark circles. - **Mixing:** You don't always need a specific kit; you need the right ratio. As I demonstrate in my tutorials, mixing a medium and a dark shade of concealer allows you to custom-create the perfect match for any client's skin. - **Product Science:** We test waterproof formulas and learn to prep skin based on weather conditions—because what works in an AC salon won't hold up in a humid outdoor Mumbai wedding. ### Get Hands-On Training Theory is important, but muscle memory is better.
