Circle Project When we take on public realm projects like K.R. Circle, we aren't just designing for aesthetics; we are engineering for flow, durability, and daily life. You will see us moving from initial drainage and slope assessments to selecting weather-resistant materials that survive our monsoon rains, ensuring that what looks beautiful on opening day stays functional for years. Urban landscape design is often misunderstood as just 'plonking plants' into a space. At AKAR, our process for transforming public nodes involves heavy-duty technical planning. For the K.R. Circle project, our work began with topographical analysis and civil working drawings, not just mood boards. We had to account for heavy vehicular traffic, pedestrian flow, and the critical need for effective rainwater management systems that prevent waterlogging—a common hurdle in Bengaluru infrastructure. ### Our Approach to Public Realm Design - **Site-Specific Engineering:** We analyze natural slopes to direct water to groundwater recharge pits rather than letting it pool on the pavement. - **Material Durability:** We select materials like terracotta and stone that hold up to the elements and the wear-and-tear of high footfall. - **Human-Centric Planning:** Our goal is to shift a space from being a 'traffic spot' to a 'hangout spot' by integrating seating, proper lighting for safety, and greenery that offers a real breather. Whether it is a public junction or a private villa, we treat the ground as a canvas that must perform as well as it looks. If you are looking to revitalize a space, we start with a site visit to assess these exact constraints. We want to know how the sun hits the plot, where the water flows, and how you intend to use the area before we ever draw a single line. ## About AKAR Design Studio At AKAR, we don't just draft plans; we spend our days in muddy boots figuring out how to make cities feel a little more like home. Whether it's a bustling traffic circle or a private garden, we’re obsessed with creating spaces that actually breathe and connect with people.
