Whether it is a dog that refuses to walk nicely on a leash or one that suffers from separation anxiety, the solution is rarely a stricter command. It is about changing how you communicate. ### The 'Calm Over Chaos' Approach I focus on reinforcing calm states. When your dog is hyper-excited, rewarding that energy just creates more chaos. I teach you how to wait, how to use the 'YES' marker to signal the right decision, and how to reward the quiet moments. This approach helps your dog learn self-control and reduces the anxiety that often leads to destructive behavior. ### Respecting Boundaries: The 5-Second Rule One of the most overlooked aspects of dog training is consent. If you want a dog that trusts you, you have to respect their space. I teach the 5-Second Rule: pet your dog for five seconds, then stop. If they move away, that is their choice, and you should respect it. If they lean in or nudge you, they are inviting more interaction. This simple shift builds immense trust, especially with rescued dogs or those adjusting to a new environment. ### What to Expect Training is a two-way street. In my workshops, I break down canine psychology so you aren't just memorizing techniques, but actually understanding why your dog behaves the way they do.
