## About On the Big Stage: Competitions & Awards

What you see on stage—the trophies and the smiles—is the result of the weekly speed assessments we do in class. Before any national competition, we simulate the exam environment so that when the day comes, the kids are not nervous; they are just ready to do what they have practiced a hundred times.

### Building Champions, Not Just Math Skills

Many parents ask me why we push for competitions. It is not just about the medals or the stage time. It is about the environment. When a child sits for a Mathopedia exam, they are learning how to handle pressure, how to manage time, and most importantly, they learn that math is something they can master, not something to fear.

### The Mathopedia Experience

We organize these events to feel like a celebration rather than a dry exam. From the moment the students arrive at the venue, they see other kids who love numbers just like them. It creates a sense of community.

* **Preparation:** We start months in advance with speed drills and practice sets.
* **Environment:** We mimic real exam conditions—invigilation, timed sheets, and quiet zones—so the actual day feels like a natural extension of their regular class.
* **Assessment:** We look at speed, accuracy, and technique. Every participant receives a certificate and a medal, because showing up and trying is the biggest win of all.

### What We Cover

Our competitions aren't limited to one skill. We host challenges for:

* **Abacus Brain Gym:** For those using beads to solve complex arithmetic.
* **Vedic Maths:** For older students who have mastered our 16 Sutras.
* **Speed Writing:** We occasionally include handwriting challenges to ensure focus and discipline.

Whether your child is just starting their abacus journey or is already a whiz at mental calculations, these platforms are designed to help them take the next step. If you want your child to experience the thrill of competing on a national stage, reach out to us. We will guide you through the registration process and help them prep to be their best.
