We start by discussing the emotional weight you want to carry—what you need to feel when you look at the canvas. From there, I use my process of layering, glazing, and adding gold highlights to translate that specific energy onto the surface, whether it is canvas, linen, or reclaimed wood. My approach to mythological art is a dialogue rather than a depiction of religious icons. When I work on a series like my feminist interpretation of the ten avatars of Vishnu, or a study of Krishna, I am looking for the human struggle and the spiritual liberation within the myth. ### The Process Every commission is a collaboration. If you have a specific spiritual concept—like the stillness of a portrait or the narrative complexity of a larger scene—we build it together. I use high-quality acrylics and oils, but I am just as comfortable working with materials like reclaimed wood, jute, or silk if that fits the story of the piece. ### Philosophical Grounding My work is often inspired by Advaita Vedanta and Buddhist concepts. I use symbolism, like the peacock feather or specific hand gestures, to ground abstract ideas in visual reality. A portrait of a deity in your home is an invitation to pause. It is about creating a space that encourages you to breathe and reflect, rather than just filling a wall with decor. ### Practical Details If you have an old or unclear photograph, we can start there. I capture the essence, not just the pixels.
