Whether it is a quick ink study of a face or a digital experiment on my iPad, I am focused on capturing the energy and mood of the subject rather than a clean, polished rendering. For me, the sketchbook is where the real work happens before it ever hits a canvas. These pieces are often the starting point for larger narratives. When I sketch, I am fighting my own fires and making sense of the world, which is why you will see chaotic lines in my ink portraits or frenetic pencil strokes that just try to catch a likeness. My digital work on Procreate allows me to play with this same freedom but with a different set of tools. It is where I experiment with textures, layers, and historical themes—like my series exploring ancient Tamil identity following the Keezhadi findings. I take these digital files and offer them as high-resolution prints, so you can bring a piece of this process into your own space without the need for a physical original. This cluster is not about finished, staged pieces. It is about the honesty of the draft. It is about a woman sitting simply, a laughing face, or the quiet contemplation of a moment. If you connect with the raw feel of a sketch or the texture of a digital painting, we can discuss getting a print or commissioning something similar in this style. ## About Girija I am Girija. Art is how I make sense of the world, from the faces I sketch in my notebook to digital pieces exploring our history. I am just a woman with a canvas and a lot to say, and I invite you to join the conversation.
